Alexis Baro

Alexis Baro has been nominated for the National Jazz Award in the "Best Trumpet Player" category for 2005, 2006 and 2007. Having a complete command of his craft and an innate gift to sound like a combination of magic and logic, he has been a much in demand artist.

His new album titled “ From The Other Side” refers to both his Cuban musical roots as well as his most recent influences since living in Canada. Baro brings a fusion of Latin, Blues, Soul, R&B, Rock and Funk on his latest offering.

Along with national radio airplay in Canada, "From The Other Side" has been in regular rotation on jazz radio in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago Washington and Europe. Baro was the opening act for Herbie Hancock at the Ottawa Jazz Festival, a feature act at the Toronto Jazz Festival and a main stage performer at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Most recently he performed with his group at the Trinidad and Tobago International Jazz and Steelpan Festival.
